September Word Search Printable Puzzle for Kids

Ah, September – the gateway to fall. Around here that means that we’ll spend plenty of time with sweltering heat and then some beautiful days here and there. Although I have a popular free Fall Word Search printable already on the site, this post has a free September Word Search Printable.

This download includes two different free versions of the September word search. There is an easier version and a more difficult version.

In addition to the different levels, each of those has an additional two versions. In one version, the letters are in a grid and in the other, they are not. The grid version may be best solved using a highlighter whereas on the one without grid letters can be circled or you can use a highlighter.

You won’t have to pick the version you want to do before you download though. You can just download the free set and then pick out the one that will be the best fit for your children or students and only print what works best for you.

September Word Search Printable for Kids

The easier version of the September word search printable has eight words that are associated with September, as well as coloring areas of a squirrel with apples and Johnny Appleseed. The harder version of the word search has 15 September holidays and words plus coloring areas with a squirrel with an apple basket and a scarecrow.

If you prefer to skip out on the coloring areas, these word search puzzles could also be printed on festive colored papers instead of plain white paper.

Words and Holidays included in the September Word Search Printable

There are eight September words in the easier version. The words can be found going up and down, left to right, and diagonally.

• Labor Day
• Fall
• Autumn
• Leaves
• Harvest
• Acorns
• Apples

The harder version includes fifteen words, phrases, and holidays associated with September.  The words go up and down, left to right, and diagonally. The words and phrases in the harder version include:

• Sapphire – The birthstone of September
• Morning Glory – One of the flowers of September
• Aster – The other flower of September
• Labor Day
• Patriot Day
• Grandparents Day
• Constitution Day
• Autumnal Equinox – though in the puzzle, Autumnal is in parentheses and students will only look for the word Equinox
• Fall
• Harvest
• Autumn
• Acorn
• Apples
• School

Both versions include an answer key. Since the packet also includes a terms of use page, this means the free packet is seven pages long.
