I will be sharing all of the sets of ingredients for the scented playdough first. After the ingredient sections, there is one set of instructions to use. So, just pick the scent of your choice and gather up those ingredients. After that, follow the one set of common directions for all of the types.

Important Note: While everything in these recipes is edible, this is NOT meant to be an edible playdough recipe. Please supervise your children while they are using the playdough. (It has a high salt content, so it shouldn’t be something they will want to eat, but it is best to keep an eye on them.)

Directions to Make Your Fall Scented Homemade Playdough

How to Make Pumpkin Playdough, Cinnamon Playdough, Apple Playdough, and Green Apple Playdough

1. Assemble all of the ingredients for your desired scented playdough from the four choices above.

2. In a small mixing bowl, you will whisk together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Set aside.

3. In a medium saucepan, heat the water and coconut oil for five minutes or until it comes to a low boil. Remove from heat.

4. Add the food coloring and the flavoring oil (or spice), based on the ingredient list for the scented playdough of your choice, to the water and coconut oil mixture. Stir well to fully combine.

5. Add the flour mixture to the pan and return to the stove top at medium heat.

6. Stir continuously until a lump of dough forms, which should take around 45 seconds. Remove from heat and allow to cool for several minutes.

7. Once the playdough is cooled, knead the dough for a few minutes and then it’s ready to go!

8. Store in airtight plastic bags for up to three weeks for some fall scented fun with your kids.

*As noted above, please remember that this is NOT meant to be an edible playdough recipe. Please watch your children while they are playing with the playdough.
