In this cut and paste activity, your children will practice their coloring and cutting skills while learning opposites. The printable includes a little booklet with opposite words written on the pages, like “Big and Little.” There are also separate sheets in the download with images to color, cut out, and paste on the correct pages.
To make your own Little Book of Opposites (download available farther down in the post), print the first 4 pages front and back (2-sided flipping on the long side). Cut in half, and then stack the pages so that they are in order.
There are page numbers on the bottom of each page to help.
HINT: Stack the pages in this order (looking at the bottom left page number): 1,3,5,7. Staple in the middle and then fold in half!
Now you have a cute little booklet of opposites. You can use the pictures at the end of the printable, have your kids draw their own pictures, or even cut out pictures from a magazine to glue in!
The little images included in the printable have dotted line outlines to make it easy for your preschoolers to cut out.

When I’m teaching about opposites to my little ones, I always pull out a favorite board book: Opposites by Sandra Boynton.
My kids love the cute cartoon animals, who are always doing something silly. Plus as a board book, it’s pretty durable and has lasted through the abuses inflicted by my children. Add it to your collection, or get it for someone you love!

Your instruction on how to make the book My little book of opposite is not clear. I tried several ways to match the words on the left page to the right page. no luck. can you clarify for me? It would take too much time for me to cut them out and paste them on the construction paper.

At first, it was a bit confusing. but after reading the instructions a second time, I was able to put the booklet together and let the kids do the rest. Thanks ! 🙂

I put in my email and was sent an email with 2 freebies. Not the little book of opposites.

Hi Susan –
Did you use the email address that you put in when you made this comment or a different one? It looks like you were previously an email subscriber with the one that you used for this comment and subscribed on September 18, 2018 and then received four individual emails with freebies you requested (none of which were the Little Book of Opposites) and then unsubscribed right after getting those. That’s the only record I have on this particular email address, unless you used a different email address.
The system is set up so an email only comes with one freebie in it, so I’m not sure where an email came from with two freebies in it at once, but I’m not sure that it came from me. (My records would indicate not, like I said – unless you used a different email address this time to sign up for the list.)
I’m happy to work on this further with you if you’d like to email me: https://www.reallifeathome.com/contact/

What a great activity for getting those little hands practicing cutting, all while learning the concept of opposites and practicing holding a pencil or felt, at the same time. Thanks so much for providing this resource!

Hello,
The download link doesn’t send to my email.
I have entered my email twice and checked spam. Nothing.
Would be helpful to have a download link on the site for freebies to make it easier for us.
Angie Kauffman says
Hi Thelma –
The system that handles sending out subscriber-exclusive freebies says that your email address bounced back to them, so that’s why you did not receive a link for the download. If you have another email address, you might try that.
When I tried to email you, that email also bounced back to me as undeliverable.
Some of the freebies on the site are available as a link in the post, but subscriber-exclusive freebies require the sign up box.
Thanks for reaching out,
Angie
