Right in time for getting ready for the 2016 – 2017 school year, I have updated the Daily Learning Notebook and Calendar Printables Packet for Catholic Kids to change the dated items to August 2016 – July 2017. As before, the packet still includes undated pages for every dated page it contains as well.
Now, let’s get back to what I shared about this awesome daily learning packet last year:
Instead of putting together a Saints Printables Packet. for the month of July, I decided to work on something a little different, which would be fabulous to use throughout the whole school year: the Daily Learning Notebook and Calendar Printables Packet for Catholic Kids. Whew! That’s a mouthful! I’m super excited about it though, and I hope that you will be too!
Important Note: This is an electronic file that you will download and print. No physical product will be shipped to you.
This 75-page packet features daily and monthly activities that work on skills such as calendar, dates, graphing, handwriting, learning about saints, and more. Farther down, I’ll give a run down of all of the pages of the packet.
Oh, and another quick note, I tried to make the packet in such a way that even non-Catholics could enjoy and use it. While you may (or may not) want to skip the coloring pages that I’m going to mention farther down, there is an alternate daily “Today is…” page that doesn’t mention the liturgical year or feast days. Instead of those, there is a large Bible verse in their place. Other pages throughout the packet also feature appropriate Bible verses.
The appropriate ages for this packet varies. I don’t usually like to assign an age group to these kinds of things because there is such a variation among children and their abilities. However, I think that this packet can easily be used with children in Preschool – 2nd grade.
Before I go through the content of the Daily Learning Notebook and Calendar Printables, I really need to thank my wonderful husband, Eric. He hand drew all of the saints in order to allow me to include one coloring page per month for this packet. Isn’t he great? (Because of this, this is not clip art for public use. That would not only be against copyright law, but it just wouldn’t be nice. Thanks to Eric for sharing his time and talents this summer when I’m sure he would have loved to have just been watching some movies!)
The Daily Learning Notebook and Calendar Printables Packet Includes:
“Today is…” page (14 total pages; 12 pages are month specific)
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify or write out the date (depending on which page option you use)
- Write how many days they have been in school – both writing it out as a number, such as 124, and then breaking it down into hundreds, tens, and ones
- Identify which season it currently is
- Pick the liturgical season and write out the feast day (unless you are using the page without those two items on it)
100 Days Chart (1 total page)
This page features a chart with 100 squares. Have your children color in one square for each day of school. When they get to the 100th day of school, consider doing something special. The bottom of this page features an appropriate verse of Scripture.
“This is How I Write My Name” Page (6 total pages)
It’s amazing how children’s handwriting changes as they are practicing to learn how to and as they get older and continue to improve their handwriting. With these pages, there is one line for each month. Pick one day per month to have your student write their name, and then marvel at the difference at the end of the school year!
Three pages are dated from August 2016 – July 2017. The other three pages are the same, but they simply have a spot to write the date in, in case the first set of dates don’t work for how you will be using the packet.
Each page features an appropriate verse from Scripture.
Monthly Calendar Pages (25 total pages)
There are monthly calendar pages for August 2016 – July 2017. These have the numbered dates on the calendars that they can trace.
There are also a set of undated calendar pages. The undated pages (where students can write in the numbers themselves) are just labeled as August – July. This will allow them to be used in any year. There is also one additional undated calendar that just says “Month: ______________” at the top.
Weather Chart Page (12 total pages)
This page has the month’s name at the top, such as “My January Weather Chart” and then an appropriate verse from Scripture underneath (the same verse is on all of the pages). Students can then color in a box each day declaring the weather to be either: sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, windy, or snowy. While I know that these weather conditions are sometimes present on the same day, just tell kids to pick the one that they think is the best fit for each day.
At the end of the month, there is a question that asks students to choose the type of weather that happened the most that month.
“I can help Jesus” Page (2 total pages)
At the end of each month, children can be given this page to think of words or actions they used in that month where they helped Jesus by helping other people. This might be something as simple as sharing a cookie with their brother or something bigger like raking leaves for a neighbor. This is a great way to encourage kids to help others, as well as to reflect on things they have done.
There is one page that features an open space where kids could write words or draw a picture. On the second page option, there are just lines for writing.
Monthly Saint Coloring Page (12 total pages)
This is probably one of my favorite parts of this set. These are the ones that Eric drew one saint for each month of the year for. On each of the coloring pages, there is a saint, their name, and the date of their feast day. For example, because St. Martha’s feast day is July 29th, she is the featured saint for July.
Family and Single Classroom/Co-op/Group Usage: Your purchase covers usage under all of these conditions. If you will be using it with more than one classroom, co-op, or group, you will need to purchase a second copy.
By paying for this packet, you help to make it possible for me to continue offering packets like this.
$4.00 for personal and single classroom use
Important Note: The Daily Learning Notebook and Calendar Printables Packet is an electronic file that you will download and print. No physical product will be shipped to you.
