Want to make a simple project to decorate your home for the Thanksgiving season? If so, I’ve got a lovely Thanksgiving chalkboard art tutorial for you. You only need a few supplies, so gather them up and let’s get started!

You will need:
- Piece of black card stock (I cut mine to 8×10 to fit into standard frame)
- White gel pen (and/or white water-based Sharpies)
- White charcoal or colored pencil
- Chalk
- Eraser
- Small dessert plate (or circle template)
- Optional: Black Sharpie
Step 1: With a white charcoal or colored pencil, trace a circle in the center of your paper. Sketch out your “Give thanks” in pencil and make adjustments until you’re satisfied.
Step 2: Trace over your pencil marks with your white gel pen. Thicken your “downward” strokes with your white sharpies or simply use your gel pen to thicken the lines.
Optional: Take your black sharpie marker and make any needed corrections or adjustments if your white pen strokes got a little “wonky.”
Step 3: Take your gel pen and begin to draw leaves and vines around the circle, weaving in and out wherever you’d like until you are satisfied with your “wreath.”
Step Four: Once you fill out your wreath and are satisfied with the fullness, allow your gel pen ink to dry, then completely erase all pencil marks.
Note: You can stop here if you like the bold contrast of the black and white. However, if you’d like your art piece to look more like an old fashioned chalkboard, then…
Step Five: Take your chalk and “season” your page as you would a real chalkboard. You do this by coloring the entire page with the side of the chalk, then erasing it off again in a circular motion.
And, voilà! You have a lovely piece of art ready to frame and display in your home for Thanksgiving, or as a beautiful reminder all year long!
