Easy Paper Plate Car Craft for Kids

If your kids love cars, this super easy paper plate car craft will be a hit! Not only is it car-themed for them, but it’s easy and inexpensive, which can both be great for you. You’ll only need a few supplies and a little free time to create this fun paper plate craft.

Not only is this a fun craft to work on in general, but it’s also a great opportunity for talking about colors and/or shapes.

This easy paper plate car craft for kids is sure to please your car-loving kids. This paper plate craft is inexpensive to create and simple to put together. This post also contains information about a free printable car-themed learning packet for preschoolers.

Easy Paper Plate Car Craft for Kids

This activity would be great during a transportation unit study or just for some fun one afternoon.

Materials for Paper Plate Car Craft

I love that this kid-friendly craft is super inexpensive to make. In fact, you may very well already have all of the materials on hand in your house or classroom.

Materials for the Paper Plate Car Craft on Real Life at Home

  • Paint (acrylic craft paint is a great option)
  • Paintbrush (a good starter set, if you don’t have any)
  • Paper plate
  • Yellow (or white) and black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions for Paper Plate Car Craft

Step 1: Cut the plate in half.

Step 2: Start painting the paper plate half with the color of your choice. Allow the project to dry.

Step 3: While waiting for the paint to dry, cut out two black circles for the tires. Also, cut out two smaller yellow or white circles for the center of the tires.

Step 4: Glue the yellow circle on top of the black circle.

Step 5: Cut out two yellow rectangles to be the windows of the car. To make it easier to make similar sizes, you can fold over the piece of paper and cut out both rectangles at the same time.

Step 6: Once the plate is dry, glue on the tires and the windows.

Extension Activities for the Paper Plate Car Craft

Along with this craft, you could have your kids write or dictate a story about an adventure that their car had in the past or will have in the future.
