Disclaimer: During my time blogging, I have had a lot of chances to review products.  Fort Magic may be my favorite thing that my family has been able to try out.  Seriously – this thing is so awesome that I couldn’t even write a regular old boring disclaimer that I got this free to review.  Fort Magic is awesome (and we have one to give away!).

When my engineering-minded nine year old daughter first saw the Fort Magic box as it arrived at our house, she gasped.  “Can we open this now?”

I told her, “I’m not sure how well I will do with building it, you know that’s just not my thing.  Let’s wait for Dad to get home.”  I’m inept when it comes to all things building, but I smartly married a guy that would become an engineer one day.  Score one for me.

“I don’t need to wait for Dad,” she said with confidence, “I think I can do it on my own.”

Building Fort Magic

advertisement

And, that’s exactly what she started doing.  She got one of her brothers to act as an assistant, and she began to build one of the larger structures in the Fort Magic guide book.

But, wait.  Before I show you what she ultimately ended up building, let me explain what Fort Magic is:

Fort Magic Box Front View

The best description about Fort Magic comes from the makers of the product:

Fort Magic is an innovative fort building and construction toy that enables children to build 3D, kid-created, “life-size” worlds for inventive play! Imagine the hours of excitement at playtime, play-dates, sleepovers and family-time as children build “forts” shaped like pirate ships, castles, playhouses, submarines, airplanes, teepees, tunnels, and so much more…all from just ONE Fort Magic kit!  Fantasy becomes reality with Fort Magic through the power of a child’s own creative hands!  Easy to build, easy to clean up!  Fort Magic ignites children’s imaginations for hours of creative play!

Here are just a few of the things that you can build:

Fort Magic Sample Frames

Here’s where you can get your own Fort Magic.  (Or, you might win one here!  Check the end of the post.)

Here’s one of the cool things though, which usually was what happened in my house: You don’t have to follow directions!  Not only does Fort Magic come with an instruction manual with over 20 design options, but then you can make modifications to designs as well.  My resident engineering nerds (my husband and daughter) could never stop with the suggested designs.  Each time they had to make tweaks here and there to make it their own.

So, what did the engineering masterminds build anyway?

Oh yes, that’s right.  I promised that after I told you about Fort Magic, I would share the first structure that Molly built with it.  She was still building when my husband got home, so they worked together from that point on.

Their awesome fort:

Large Fort Magic Fort

And, in case you can’t really get the scale of the size of this thing, I peeked in to take a picture:

Inside Large Fort Magic Fort

Yep, that’s my husband, 12 year old son, and 9 year old daughter all comfortably hanging out inside.  My son, coming in at 5’1″ could even stand up!

You might notice that our fort looked a little, well, let’s say colorful.  That’s because Fort Magic doesn’t come with with covers for the structures.  They plan to start selling them at some point, but for now, you will just use the clips that are included to secure sheets or other fabric to the frame.  I was initially intimidated by that idea, but then I was surprised and pleased at how easy that was.

After several days of enjoying that fort, my engineering loving family members decided to put together another structure, this time a little house, in my daughter’s room:

Fort Magic House

Like I said earlier, I think this is my favorite product I have ever reviewed.  I love it!  I’m excited to have one to give away to one lucky reader.  If you don’t win, however, you can always go pick up your own.  Not sure about it?  You can check out what other people are saying about Fort Magic as well.

Now here’s your chance to win a Fort Magic

As an engineer, who couldn’t make a fort strong enough to stand up to the attacks of my older brother, I gave up one too many girl scout cookies to negotiate a truce! If only this product was available when I was a kid, I could have sold 800 cups of lemonade for 25 cents a piece and forever foiled the plans of my domineering brother! Maybe I’ll get one for my kids!

This Fort Magic is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for for two years now. My son wants to build a covered wagon in his bedroom which is a very cute 1950s styled Cowpokes/Cowboys. We have debated how to do such a massive project with safe materials and sadly we do NOT have an engineer in the family so it hasn’t happened… yet! I just called my husband and told him about this wonderful product! I would love to win it, but if not… it’s on our wish list! 😉
