Christmas Crafts for Kids

Oh, y’all. I could’ve listed 100+ fun Christmas crafts here, but I refrained! Instead, I whittled the vast array of yuletide craftiness down to just a dozen (and a half!) truly delightful creations for kids of all ages. And if you’re like me, you might make a few of these yourself — you know, to set a good example for the kids. {wink!}

Handprint Crafts:

1 – Snowman Ball Ornament

The kids’ handprint in paint creates cute snowmen on a pretty keepsake ornament. Be sure to look for non-breakable glass or plastic balls for this craft.

2 – Handprint Wreath

All you need is paper, glue, scissors (and your child’s hand!) to make this handprint wreath.

3 – Felt Mitten

These cozy-looking ornaments would be simple to make and are another way to remember how small your kids once were when you hang them on the tree in subsequent years.

4 – Christmas Tree Canvas

Each child could make their own, or you could use handprints for everyone in the family — even the grown ups!

Angel Crafts:

5 – Felt and Wire Angel

A lovely ornament I plan to make myself. A beautiful idea for a gift package tie-on, too.

6 – Popsicle Stick Angels

I love the ones with sheet music! These are far more upscale than what I imagine when I think of popsicle stick crafts. Be sure to check out the other “no budget” crafts on this site.

7 – Coffee Filter Angel

Add glitter glue or sequins for more pizazz on these simple angels.

8 – Clothespin Angel

There are a zillion versions of the clothespin angel, but these looked the simplest of the tutorials I saw. Other fabulous variations of these wooden clothespin dolls: Nutcracker or these Santa and Mrs. Claus. They’d be great as ornaments, but could also be used as little dolls.

Jesus Crafts:

8 – Christmas in a Nutshell

I can hardly take the cuteness of this teeny tiny ornament full of the meaning of Christmas: baby Jesus in a walnut cradle!

9 – Stained Glass Nativity

The glass, of course, is actually paper, but these are quite pretty and focus on the reason we’re making these fun crafts in the first place!

10 – Baby Jesus Felt Ornament

A sweet ornament — and a lesson to go along with it.

Christmas Tree Crafts:

11 – Candy Cane Christmas Trees

Great gift topper, or as a token gift for your kids’ friends.

12 – Pine Cone Christmas Trees

Gather a few pine cones and let the kids turn them into mini Christmas trees! I’ve also seen them spray painted green first, then decorated with whatever you have on hand. Cute!

13 – Felt Christmas Tree

Give the kids (especially little ones who want to “rearrange” ornaments on the big tree) a tree of their own, to safely decorate and re-decorate to their heart’s content.

Other Fun Christmas Crafts:

14 – Puffy Paint Window Decorations

I never thought of making these! Try several designs of ornaments, snowflakes, trees, just about anything you could think of.

15 – Sachet Ornaments

They’re simple, they smell delightful, and would make lovely, economical gifts.

17 – Sock Wreath

This would be adorably festive hanging on a child’s bedroom door!

18 – Popsicle Stick Sled

These have a bit of a rustic touch I just adore. We will be making at least one of these for ourselves, and maybe a few for gifts, too. Don’t miss the other fun DIY ornaments on this site, too.
