Let’s face it:Â it’s hard to come up with gift ideas for tweens, especially when you’re on a tight budget. It seems the older kids get, the more expensive their gifts become!
We’ve come up with this list of Gift Ideas for Tweens on a mere $20 budget. See what might spark some interest with the older kids in your family!

$20 Budget Gift Ideas for Tweens
- Fan Club membership –Â Many celebrity and recording artist fan club memberships start at around $20 (and go way up from there), and include perks like getting early access to concert tickets.
- Books for tweens – Did you know, there are actually more books for tweens than just the Harry Potter series? Shocker, I know! Check this list from Goodreads to find some new books your child may get lost in. My daughter, who is 11, has enjoyed the Wonder series.  She has mostly read digital version,s but there is also a giftable boxed set available.
- Board games – try Armchair Quarterback for football fans and Say Anything or Wits & Wagers for parent-kid matchups.
- Magazine subscriptions for sports, gaming, animals, and other interests can come to their door each month for just a few bucks for an entire year. Use coupon code CHAOSISBLISS for 20% off anything at DiscountMags.  Also, be sure to check out Amazon’s magazine store for both print and digital versions.
- Faux Fur Eye Mask from Pottery Barn – I find this strangely adorable!
- Artist merchandise – Go to the official website of their favorite recording artist, and you’ll find posters, books, jewelry, and more at just the right price point.
- Portable Bluetooth Speaker – The Pill comes in 4Â colors.
- Lightly scented perfume or a sheer body spray.
- Starter makeup set – Try e.l.f. Cosmetics which always has great coupon codes and free shipping offers.
- For nature lovers, the Nature Conservancy nonprofit organization offers “green gifts” such as a membership or adopting an acre in the Great Plains, Northern Rockies, and other locales.
- Ear buds and headphones can be pricey, but if you buy less expensive ones you can afford an extra pair, just in case your kid is “organizationally challenged,” let’s say.
- Life Story – Collector’s edition magazine of their favorite celebrities – I bought a Ross Lynch mag for my daughter two years ago, she was over the moon! They’re only $9.95 and a couple bucks for shipping.
- Get them a Taco Bell gift card, and you’ll be their hero forever. What kid doesn’t like Taco Bell?
- You can pick up Gaming/App gift cards for XBox Live and iTunes at most grocery and big-box stores.
- Does your child like to draw? Budding artists may enjoy the trend for more detailed coloring books and a new set of colored pencils, or perhaps an instructional book for learning how to draw (anime, cartoons, dragons, you name it).
Remember you can always create your own gift, such as this DIY Reading Kit! You may like to look into some of my frugal tips like birthday party gifts with a $10 budget!
