Orange Bread Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp orange zest
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Orange Syrup Ingredients
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
Orange Glaze Ingredients
- 1 tbsp orange juice
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp orange extract
Orange Bread Directions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare a 9-inch by 5-inch loaf pan with a non-stick spray.
In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, granulated sugar, eggs, orange zest, vanilla extract, and oil. Stir until well blended.
Add the self-rising flour to your batter. Mix this until well combined.
Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Set aside to cool.
Orange Syrup Directions
You will prepare the orange syrup after the bread has cooled (at least 30 minutes).
Add the 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of orange juice to a saucepan and stir together.
Heat the mixture until it boils. Allow the mixture to boil for a minute or two until the sugar is dissolved. Then, remove the pan from heat.
Remove the orange bread from its pan and place it onto a cooling rack. Place wax paper underneath the cooling rack. Pour the orange syrup all over the top of the bread and let it soak in.
Orange Sweet Glaze Directions
Once your bread has completely cooled again, mix together the orange juice, powdered sugar, and orange extract until well combined, making a glaze.
Drizzle the icing all over the top of the bread.
