Donut Wreath Recipe: Easy Baked Homemade Donuts for Christmas

Make these easy homemade donuts for a delicious sweet treat. Then, follow the decoration directions to put a Christmas twist on them and create donut wreaths.

Ingredients
  

Donut Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup milk

Frosting Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons salted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Green food coloring gel
  • Red nonpareils for decorating on top of the frosting

Instructions
 

Homemade Baked Donuts Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Put dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.
  • Add remaining ingredients and whisk together.
  • Add the batter into a mini donut pan (Use a piping bag or spoon) sprayed with non-stick spray.
  • Bake for approximately 9 - 10 minutes.
  • Allow the donuts to cool. Remove from pan and move them to a cooling rack.

Frosting Directions

  • Using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the butter on medium.
  • Once the butter is creamy, add your almond extract.
  • Add powdered sugar, a little at a time. Mix well.
  • Add milk a little at a time, until your desired consistency is reached.
  • Add green food coloring, a little at a time, until you have reached the desired color.

How to Make Your Homemade Donuts into Donut Wreaths

  • Use a pastry bag with a decorative frosting tip to pipe your green frosting onto your homemade donuts.
  • Top with red nonpareils and serve.

Notes

You will also need a mini donut pan. These are not expensive and are a fun thing to have at home. If you prefer, you could buy a mini donut maker.
