Pizza Hut now has gluten-free pizzas!
advertisement
We were recently able to do one of our favorite family activities: getting together for a meal and hanging out with another family that we’re friends with.  Aren’t families like that great?  I love it when everyone gets to be excited to see a family because the parents are friends and the kids are all friends. For the last several years, however, there has been one thing that added a small challenge to our families getting together for a meal.  We love being able to bring in pizza or fast food so we have more time to visit.  However, three of the family members in the other family have been identified as having a gluten intolerance.

This gluten intolerance meant that while everyone else was able to eat anything that was brought in, my friend would often then make a separate but similar meal for her and two of her daughters.  While not a huge deal, it took away from the convenience of just bringing in food from out.

Our latest dinner with our friends was very different though.  That was all thanks to the fact that Pizza Hut® has begun to offer “Gluten-Free Pizza” using Udi’s® certified gluten-free crust!  Now we really all could have a fast and tasty pizza option that none of us had to make.

Digging in to the "Create Your Own" Gluten-Free Pizza Hut pizza

While Pizza Hut doesn’t have the new Udi’s Certified gluten-free crusts available at all of their locations yet, you can check out this link to see the closest store to you that currently has them available.  They aren’t at our closest store, but it was extra handy that they were available at the closest Pizza Hut to our friends.  Score!

We ordered a whole stack of pizzas, since we have three kids and our friends have seven.  This included a variety of regular pizzas, as well as two of the new gluten-free options. For our pizzas with the Udi’s gluten-free crusts, we got one cheese pizza and one pizza with lots of veggies.  While only the cheese-only and pepperoni Gluten-Free Pizzas are certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), there is also a “Create Your Own” option.

cheese-only gluten-free pizza from Pizza Hut

I liked that when we chose to order a “Create Your Own” option for one of the gluten-free pizzas, the Pizza Hut location was quick to let us know that there could be the possibility of a cross-contamination.  I liked that they were careful about that!

Our two gluten-free pizzas fed two teens and an adult.  The pricing on the Pizza Hut “Gluten-Free Pizzas” with Udi’s certified gluten-free crust starts at $9.99 for the cheese-only gluten-free pizza.  The pizza that we loaded with veggies was considerably more, however, as we paid extra for each topping.

We all loved having the ability to gather together and enjoy an evening of fun and visiting without anyone having to make separate meals.  What a wonderful experience!

Everyone (both gluten eaters and gluten-free eaters) got to have what they wanted from Pizza Hut!

You Have a Chance to Win a $100 Pizza Hut Gift Card from SheKnows!

I’m super excited that one randomly chosen reader will be able to win a $100 Pizza Hut gift card!  This would be so great to just enjoy with your family over a few visits or maybe even throw a big pizza party. Just share what your favorite pizza toppings are for a chance to win!

I was diagnosed celiac 10 years ago and one of the ‘bad’ foods I’ve always longed for is Pizza Hut pizza!! (and good sour cream donuts) My favorite toppings are anything meat, though I do love a Tuscan style pizza, too (peppers, onions, sausage, tomatoes).
