Welcome, Ultimate Blog Party Goers (Plus a Giveaway!)

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

For regular readers, I know that you already know about me, so bear with me.  (There’s a giveaway somewhere in here, so it’s worth sticking around.)

I’m Angie and I write here at Many Little Blessings. I’ve been at this particular location for all of about two weeks now, thanks to my new blog makeover and move to WordPress.  Prior to that, I had been on Blogger (with a similar laundry themed header) since December 2006.  I’m so glad to be on WordPress, except that I lost quite a lot of subscribers in the shuffle of the move.  Boo!  Other than that, it’s been great.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 14 years, and we have three wonderful children (ages 10, 8, & 5), whom I homeschool.

Here at Many Little Blessings, I write about faith, family, and household management topics (from cooking to gardening, cleaning to organizing), as well as topics like crafting, blogging, homeschooling, and any other topic that pops into my head on any given day.

In addition to Many Little Blessings, I founded Catholic Mothers Online in April 2007 and then the homeschool group blog, The Homeschool Classroom in July 2008.  I also co-founded Homescho0l Lifestyle Media in 2009, as well as working with Brenda (the other co-founder) to create the Catholic Family Gadget Toolbar, which just launched in February 2010.  (By the way, if you happen to want to help send me to the Relevant Conference and promote your blog or business, be sure to check out the advertising specials running right now for half priced ads at Catholic Mothers Online and The Homeschool Classroom.)

Now, I won’t keep you long, because I know there will be lots of parties to attend.  (You’re clearly very popular to be invited to so many parties.)  But, perhaps you will want to stay just a few more minutes to enter into a give away for a $20 Amazon.com Gift Certificate.

There are a few different ways to win (make sure to leave a separate comment for each entry):

1. Leave a Comment – Here’s the thing though, I don’t like the “I want to win” kinds of posts.  They’re boring to read, sorry.  So, you must either leave a comment with a topic suggestion that I should write on in the future or just tell me something interesting about yourself.

2. Post on Twitter about the giveaway – Just tweet this:  Check out the great $20 Amazon Giveaway by @Angie76 http://bit.ly/dfQYUo (4 ways to win!) #ubp10

3. Subscribe to Many Little Blessings (through RSS reader – like Google Reader – or via email).

4. Post on your blog about this giveaway.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years (you got me beat there) but we have more kids….:) We have been together since the week before I turned 15! (Wow that makes 17 years this year!)

    • Angie says

LOL Samantha — I met my husband when I was 14, but we didn’t start dating until about 4 months after I turned 15. (He was dating my best friend when I met him. LOL)

  2. Muthering Heights says

    Hi Angie!!

I’m looking forward to “partying” with you in person at Relevant! 😀

  3. says

I was just getting my post ready too! Hmm, something to write about…something about me…well here’s something: I ate a yummy salad tonight and my sister told me to put hummus on it. I did and it was delicious, but now my mouth tastes so nasty that I’m not sure how I’m going to sleep.

Does that count as an entry? LOL!

Hi there! I’m a Homeschooling Mom who married my HS Sweetheart, too (10 years married, 12 years together)! Okay I have a doozie for you. I was raised Catholic, left the church after high school, was saved shortly after and have walked the last 12 years hand in hand with Jesus. My Mother who is still a practicing & devout Catholic has an EXTREMELY hard time with my siblings & I (there are 8 of us) not following the ‘faith’. I speak only for myself when I say, I know Jesus as friend & Savior & know my eternal home is in Heaven. She however, with the faith factor…ie: religion factor cannot accept that I can be walking with God or be a “Good Christian” if I’m not a part of “The Church”. Please know that I mean no disrespect with the italics…my way of stressing my Mother’s opinion. My question after ALL THAT is how can I approach the agree to disagree heart to heart to move our relationship forward? Thoughts, advice? Thanks, & sorry to slam you with THAT ONE! :)

  8. Deana Birks says

I’m homeschooling my kids, too. I have two sons, 9 and 11 and I’ve been married 13 years (well, 12 3/4). I know what you mean about switching blog hosts; I was at Typepad all of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 and then moved to Squarespace and bam! lost a bunch of people. Kind of a bummer, but I’m happy about my “new” blog. Great meeting you, I’m going to subscribe in my Google Reader.

  9. says

I tried homeschooling my son in 2nd grade, it lasted about 6 wks before I found out that he thought I was too much fun! Honestly, this is the child that smiles at me when I am trying to discipline him. So, I envy that you can stick it out successfully.

Just joining the party!!! I look forward to reading your blog and getting to know you better. I am a fellow Christian and I’m always looking for new ways to teach my kids about God’s love. That would definitely be a post I’d check out. Come check out my blog sometime if you get a chance. http://betweenthelines-kam.blogspot.com

  13. says

I don’t think it’s possible to top Jenny’s comment. LOL! But just in case, I have a coffee mixed with mint toothpaste taste going on myself.. :-)

As for a topic post, i keep hoping to stumble into a conversation on the best way to use twitter, while at the blog party today. How do you remember when the chats take place? Do you use extra software, or just the twitter site? Is there an app that is better than twidroid for tracking hashtags? I have a lot of twitter related questions. :-)

  15. says

We have been homeschooling almost 4 years. We pulled our children out of public school. Some days are much harder than the others, but I know we are called to homeschool them. One thing I’d like to see here is how to go about choosing a curriculum? We are struggling this comming year on what to use. Currently we have been using Unit Studies but they have become a lot of work for me. We are homeschooling 3 children ages 16, 13, 10, they are all at different points in their education. The 2 older ones have some learning disabilities. Any ideas?

  16. says

I always love meeting other homeschoolers. I love homeschooling my granddaughter, and she is such a blessing. Following you from the UBP!

  17. Mami2jcn says

I guess something interesting about our family is that each of my 3 children have been born in different states. Also, we speak 3 languages.

  18. says

Nice to meet you! I surfed on over here through the UBP 2010 MckLinky, and I’m so glad I did! What would I like to read about? Hmmm… probably stuff relating to organization [I’m a huge clutterbug, so any hints for helping that are great!] or activities to do with young kids, since I don’t homeschool but would love to do more with them to help them along.

Hi there! My, you are one busy blogging momma! I see that I’m going to have to bookmark/subscribe to your RSS feeds! I’m a Christian crafty Mommy blogger who’s not very organized and has a black thumb but still attempts to have a little vegetable garden with my son each year.
I’ve toyed with the idea of homeschooling, but quite frankly I don’t know that I have the discipline, and my son and I need a little break from each other. He’s going into K next year, and we’re trying to decide b/n public school and the Christian school that he’s going to now…..
I still look at homeschool resources though….maybe as a supplement? Great meeting you!

Your my second stop on the party. I was attracted to the “blessings” in your title and I have to be honest the $20 gift card caught my eye too…………..hmmmmmmmmmm I had better be careful about serving two masters!
I totally feel like I am always doing laundry. I see you have a cleaning/laundry heading. I will be checking that out next! Hope your former readers find you soon.

  46. Connie says

I checked out the laundry/cleaning heading and found Cleaning My Itty Bitty Craft Room…Once Again. Oh my……….I am sitting beside an area that I so need to get organized in my bedroom. I have clean it before and it seems to become a mess again overnight. Your area looks great……….I have hope!
I just subscribed to the RSS feed through i google. I look forward to coming back!

    • Angie says

Thanks, Connie! It’s really amazing about what we have done in such a small place. But, I must admit that left to myself, that area would NOT be so great. It helps to have my engineer husband tackle some of the logistics of those kinds of projects. I say things like, “Is there a way to utilize this empty space about the door?” (for instance) and he comes up with something great. 😉

I see you on Twitter often, but I think this is the first time I came to your blog. I love WordPress! Hope you get subscribers back – maybe the party will help.

Something interesting about me…Hmm…do you want serious like “I’ve played the piano for 27 years.” or something I’m passionate about like “I love to make vlogs and teach others how to. I’m going to be holding a teleseminar in 4 weeks! or something crazy like “I can touch my nose with my tongue.” [kind of gross when you think about it]

    Have a great day!

I am visiting from UBP. Don’t laugh, but my goal is to comment on any blog that starts with the same letter as mine – letter “M”. That’s probably an interesting thing about me – I like to decide on things in a random manner if the choices are all equally attractive. Happy partying!

    Hey there!

Great party post! I love your website, it looks absolutely gorgeous and oh do I love my WordPress. I’ve been a total WordPress snob for years now and swear by it. I’m a web designer and developer and many clients I have had over the years had hired me to create Blogger templates for them, but I always seemed to win them over to the WordPress side.

I love that you homeschool your kids! I don’t have any children of my own (yet!) but I did inherit two stepdaughters from my partner who are always teaching me something and keeping me smiling. My partner and I do love to talk about how we will raise our future children together though and the topic of homeschooling always comes up and we’re all about it!

Anyway, (I have a tendency to ramble, sorry about that!) it was great to “meet” you and be introduced to your blog through the Ultimate Blog Party! Thanks for letting me in your life a little bit!

Hello! Nice to meet you! I think it is really great that you homeschool your children. I tried that with my oldest son a few years back. At first, it went great but then I got a new job and Grandma took over. That didn’t work out so well. My son had her like a puppet :) I’m fairly new to blogging but I’m loving it! I plan to be around for a while. I’m with WordPress also and I’m sorry you lost your followers! I will be sure to add me to that list! Thank you.
