Free Dining Plans at Disney World: Late Fall 2012

I’m briefly coming out of my blog break (I wrote most of the things on the blog in July during the end of June) to share some information about the upcoming Free Dining offer from Walt Disney World.  I know that there were many people that had a lot of questions about how we managed to get all of our food free last year on our trip and how they could get free dining as well, so I couldn’t help but share the deal about to be released on July 12, 2012.

By the way, if you haven’t read about all the things we managed to eat on our trip last year, here are the posts about what we ate at Disney World on the Disney Dining Plan (and then the second half of what we ate at Disney World too).

In order to get the free dining last year, we booked a package that included an onsite room and our tickets during one of their set times, and then we got free dining for our whole trip.  (I think that maxes out at 14 days, but I’m not sure.)

The free dining deal for that time of year will be announced to the general public tomorrow, July 12, 2012!  (I have a Disney Visa card, so I got notified of the deal on Monday, and there was a note that it would be open to the general public as of the 12th.)

The deal appears to require a longer stay this time.  Last year, we just had to have four nights, but this year, it’s a minimum six night/seven day stay with an arrival on most nights between these dates:

Walt Disney World’s Fall 2012 Free Dining Deal Dates:

September 30, 2012 – October 4, 2012
October 19, 2012 – November 1, 2012
November 9, 2012 – November 15, 2012
November 23, 2012 – November 29, 2012
December 10, 2012 – December 13, 2012

(Note: I, of course, can’t guarantee these dates.  However, these were the dates we received in promotional materials from Chase, as well as the same dates that people I know received as offers prior to the public announcement tomorrow.)

This doesn’t mean that your stay can only be between these dates.  You just need your arrival to be on one of the dates.  (Also, it’s important to note that your arrival cannot be outside of these dates to qualify for the free dining.)

If you are staying at a value resort, your free dining would be their deal that includes two quick service meals, one snack, and a refillable mug each day (per person on your reservation).  If you’re staying at a moderate or deluxe resort, your free dining would be one table service meal (this includes most character meals as well!), one quick service meal, one snack, and one refillable mug each day (per person on your reservation).  The latter is the plan that we were able to do last year because we stayed at Coronado Springs Resort, which is a moderate resort.

There are some restrictions, so it’s best to consult with Walt Disney World’s website (and here is their “Special Offers” page where you would need to click through, once the deal is posted) or via phone.  However, as I said, they are not releasing the deal until tomorrow (Thursday, July 12th).  If you’re considering a trip, tonight would be a great time to start playing around on their website to see what type of resort and dates you might be interested in.

Dates and availability can be limited, so this is one of those deals that you should grab up, if you’re interested in it.  (I believe that the book by date is September 29th.  And, the good news is that when you make your reservation, you only have to put down a $200 deposit.  So, no worries about coming up with all the money up front.)

I don’t get anything for posting about this, I just wanted to share the upcoming deal because I know so many of you expressed your interest on how we ate so much food for free last year.

Oh, isn’t that interesting that you can get free food. Gee, I never knew that. Coincidentally my husband and I are going to Disney in two weeks; we’re taking the whole family–seven here! We’ll be staying just outside of Disney, and we’re renting a car. The last time we went was 13 years ago and my two oldest kids were six and four, the third was a baby. The two youngest have never been. Now my oldest is 19 and my youngest is 7. I’m so excited to go again!
