I wasn’t surprised when almost as soon as the weather got nice this Spring, Molly was busily putting up a new fairy teepee in our front yard. She just loved her first teepee-style fairy house so much that springtime called out to her to set up a new fairy habitat. In honor of the creation of a new fairy habitat, we made some Spring Fairy Wand Treats and Fairy Fruit Juice.

How to Make Marshmallow Fairy Wand Treats
This was Molly’s favorite, because it’s so easy that she was able to make them with no need for help from an adult. Although, of course, I did help. I wanted a chance to make these fun treats too!
You’ll just need:
- Sticks of some sort
- Full-sized marshmallows
- Candy melting discs or almond bark
- Sprinkles, colored sugars, or nonpareils
These are as simple as gently putting the stick into the marshmallow and then dipping the marshmallow into the already melted (according to package directions) candy melt discs. We then tapped off excessive melted candy and then immediately sprinkled the marshmallow with the decorations of our choice.
To allow the Marshmallow Fairy Wands to dry, we placed them on wax paper with the top of the marshmallow facing down (so that the sticks were up in the air). This way, the tops of the wands are flat, but the sides still look great.
How to Make Butterfly Fairy Wand Treats
You’ll just need:
- Sticks of some kind
- Your favorite crisped rice cereal
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- A butterfly cookie cutter or any spring shape that you prefer
We made two batches of Rice Krispie Treats according to the package directions. They would be hard to mix as a double batch, so that’s why I made two separate ones. I packed them down into a cookie sheet (with sides!) that I had sprayed with cooking spray ahead of time.
After the treats had a chance to harden, I used a plastic butterfly cookie cutter to cut out my butterfly shapes. I then carefully put the stick up through the middle of the butterfly. This is why you’ll want either a double batch, if shaping it into a cookie sheet, or probably a single batch if you just use a standard 13×9 cake pan. You’ll need your shapes to come out densely packed and thick enough to support a stick.
How to Make Fairy Fruit Juice
This juice is fun, pink, icy, and packed with fruit and Vitamin C!
Ingredients
You can change up the amounts to make more or less. This made enough for five juice glass size servings or around two glasses that are the size shown in the picture.
- Crushed Ice
- Six fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup of orange juice
- 1/2 of a banana
If you are able to get finely crushed ice, you can fill your glasses with it as you start to blend the other ingredients. Mine doesn’t come out of my refrigerator quite that finely, so I blended it in my blender first.
Add all fruits and fruit juices to a blender and blend until completely combined. Pour your pretty pink Vitamin C creation over crushed ice in your glasses. Garnish with a slice of strawberry, a slice of pineapple, or both! (If the flavors are too tart or citrus-filled for your child’s taste, you can sweeten it a bit with your choice of sweetener, such as sugar or honey.)

My dentist actually recommended that I rub toothpaste on my teeth after lunch because it is not practical for me to use a mouthrinse or toothbrush at my work. So now I apply flouride toothpaste at lunch and then brush regularly twice a day. I keep a small travel size toothpaste tube in my purse.

As a backpacker, I carry as light as possible, and you can’t be much more on the go then carrying your home on your back through the woods. I always carry a small, foldable toothbrush and a sample toothpaste. I also carry floss. Brushing and flossing is just part of my routine as I wake up in the morning to eat, drink coffee and pack up as it is in the evening as I eat, set up my tent, brush/floss my teeth and off to bed, just to repeat again in the morning.
