Since All Saints’ Day is coming up soon, I decided that it would be fun to add to some of the other All Saints’ Day activities that I have on the site. I thought that creating a Catholic saints crossword puzzle would be a great addition. By the time I was done creating, I actually ended up making three different saints crossword puzzles. Plus, they’re all free downloads. Bonus!
{A great companion to these saints crossword puzzles are the All Saints’ Day word search printables!}

Easy Saints Crossword Puzzle (Version 1)
The first saints crossword puzzle features just ten clues and I tried to make them easier answers to come up with. For instance, one clue is “This saint was the earthly father of Jesus.” This puzzle would be good for elementary-aged students.

In order to make this puzzle easier for your children or students, you can use the solutions page to find all of the answers and then put together a word bank for them to use. Providing a word bank can make this version of the saints crossword puzzle accessible to some younger elementary-aged kids.
In addition to the crossword puzzle and clues, this easier version features larger boxes for writing in letters. There is also a small coloring area of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Joan of Arc, both of whom are answers in the puzzle.

Catholic Saints Crossword Puzzle (Version 2)
This second version of the saints crossword puzzle is more challenging and would be appropriate for some older elementary-aged children as well as middle school-aged children. You might even find it to be appropriate for some high school students. Since it’s a free download, you’ll be able to check out which version is best for your needs.
This version contains 20 clues, with a mix of easier and more challenging clues (depending on a child’s knowledge of the saints). For example, one easier clue is “Saint _____ of Arc.” While another more challenging clue is “This is the last name of a saint who died as a martyr in World War II.” This clue, and some others, will have more than one correct answer. However, children will need to find the answer that fits correctly into the puzzle.

Just like all of the versions, this version of the Catholic Saints Crossword Puzzle comes with a solutions page.
Patron Saints Crossword Puzzle (Version 3)
While I was making the second version, I almost started to include some clues about what a saint was the patron saint of. I then realized that would make a great puzzle all on its own!
So, the third saints crossword puzzle is all about finding who is the patron saint of different items, occupations, and more.
As you may already know, there are sometimes multiple saints who are the patron of the same thing. For this puzzle, children will again need to find not only a correct answer, but the answer that fits the puzzle. For example, one clue asks for the patron saint of cooks. While there are multiple correct answers, the only one that fits appropriately into the puzzle is Saint Martha.
This puzzle is probably most appropriate for children of a similar age to my recommendations for the second version. As I already suggested for another puzzle, you can tailor this to be a little easier for students by providing a word bank for them from the solutions page answers.
