10 Randomly Chosen Songs from my iPhone

Top Ten Tuesday at Many Little Blessings

Okay, so I’m a cheater.  I’ve done this list before.

But, you know what?  I love music so much.  And, with so many songs on my phone (they’re taking up too much space), it’s going to be a new, different list.

So, to make this list, I’m going to be brave, pick up my iPhone, hit shuffle on the songs, and let’s see what comes up…

1. With or Without You – U2
“Through the storm we reach the shore.  You give it all, but I want more.  And I’m waiting for you.  With or without you, with or without you.  I can’t live with or without you.

(This song always makes me think of one of two things: (1) When I saw U2 in concert, (2) The episode of Friends when Ross calls the radio station to have this song played for Rachel, which is a pretty funny.)

2. Life is a Highway – Tom Cochrane
“Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long.  If you’re goin’ my way, I wanna drive it all night long.”

3. Jump Jive an’ Wail – Brian Setzer Orchestra
“Baby, baby, it looks like it’s gonna hail.  Baby, baby, it looks like it’s gonna hail.  You better come inside, let me teach ya how to jive an’ wail.”

4. Monster – Skillet
“I feel it deep within, it’s just beneath the skin.  I must confess that I feel like a monster.”

5. They Might Be Giants – They Might Be Giants
“We can’t be silent, ’cause they might be giants.  And what are we going to do unless they are?’

6. I’m Only Sleeping – The Vines (remake of The Beatles song, found on the I Am Sam soundtrack)
“When I wake up early in the morning, lift my head – I’m still yawning.”

7. Santa Monica – Everclear
“I am still livin’ with your ghost…” or, as I like to sing around Eric (so we’ll both laugh) – “I am still livin’ with your goat..”

8. I Hate Everyone – Get Set Go (apparently this is the clean version, it says)
“All the people on the street, I hate you all.  And the people that I meet, I hate you all.  And the people that I know, I hate you all.  And the people that I don’t, I hate you all.”

(Okay, so that doesn’t really sound like a nice song, huh?  It’s catchy though and I got it on one of the Grey’s Anatomy soundtracks.)

9. Clocks – Coldplay
“Lights go out and I can’t be saved, tides that I tried to swim against have brought me down upon my knees, oh I beg, I beg and plead.”

(I like the mention of “shoot an apple off my head” in this song.  I like songs that stick in literary references.)

10. Let It Be – The Beatles
“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.”

(I was just a few off from being able to include a song by Toad the Wet Sprocket, apparently.  I mention this only because I like to say Toad the Wet Sprocket.  It’s a fun band name.  I told a couple of my sisters that if we had a band, we would have to call it Chicks Without Gallbladders.)
